Sinigang Na Bangus (Milkfish In Sour Broth)



What I had last night is Sinigang na Bangus.

Now this is a very easy to do dish and yet very good especially during cold season. Affordable, Simple and Easy To Cook.

Sinigang is one of Filipinos most favorite food.

Sinigang na Bangus (Milkfish Stew)

Ingredients:

2 pcs.large bangus, cleaned and sliced into serving pieces
5 cups water
2 cups kangkong leaves ( water spinach-chinese kangkong)
1 small pack tamarind powder or fresh one
4 pcs. taro root (gabi) halved
3 Finger Chilli Pepper (Green)
salt and fish sauce to taste
2 pcs. Green Saging na Saba (Philippine Cooking Bananas) sliced

You can also add sliced of ginger, tomatoes,onion, egg plant,string beans, optional.

Note: You can also use either Pork, Beef or Shrimp, whatever your craving for to put on your sour soup.

Procedure:

Boil water in a casserole together Taro Root and Saging Saba for 5 minutes or until cooked. 

then add Milk Fish, Finger Chilli and let is simmer for 10 minutes.

Then add the tamarind powder (or fresh tamarind) and salt to taste ( fish sauce to taste optional) simmer for another 5 minutes.

Turn off heat, then add the kangkong leaves and let stand covered for 5 minutes.

Best Serve with Rice and Fried Fish.
